Quick Summary
- Sling TV + the Sports Extra add on is the cheapest way to watch MLB Network for $52 per month.
- fubo and DirecTV Stream also offer MLB Network starting at $88 per month.
- Free trials are available from some services for short term viewing.
MLB Network is the best sports channel for baseball fans. MLB Network features 24/7 coverage of America’s pastime including live games, breaking news, and highlights.
But how do you watch MLB Network if you don’t have cable?
MLB Network is much more difficult to find compared to other sports networks, especially since YouTube TV dropped it from its lineup back in January.
Don’t worry though, in this article we’ll show you how to watch MLB Network live without cable, and we’ll show you the most cheapest way to stream it.
Sling TV – The Cheapest Streaming Option
Sling TV is the most affordable way to stream MLB Network live, but it is not included in any of their three base packages. To get it, you’ll need to subscribe to one of the base plans, along with the Sports Extra add-on, for an additional fee.
That said, given the shortage of streaming services that offer MLB Network and even with the extra monthly cost it’s still the least expensive way to stream MLB Network.
As we mentioned in our Sling TV review, Sling offers three base packages… Sling Orange, Sling Blue, and the Sling Orange & Blue combo plan. To get MLB Network you’ll need to subscribe to one of them, along with the Sports Extra add-on.
Sling TV MLB Network Options
- Sling Orange ($40/mo) + Sports Extra add-on ($11.99)
- Sling Blue ($40/mo) + Sports Extra add-on ($11.99)
- Sling Orange & Blue ($55/mo) + Sports Extra add-on ($11.99)
Sling TV is available on streaming platforms including Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, XBox, Android, iOS, and most Smart TVs.
fubo
The next least expensive option for MLB Network is fubo, which is known for its sports coverage.
fubo does not include MLB Network in their base plan so you have two options:
Option 1 (The Simplest Option):
Subscribe to the fubo Elite plan, which gives you 220 channels for $89.99 per month.
Option 2 (The Less Expensive Option):
Subscribe to the fubo Pro plan (their base plan) for $79.99 along with one of the following add-on plans:
Base Plan | Add-On Plan | Total Cost |
---|---|---|
fubo Pro Plan ($79.99/mo) | fubo Extra ($7.99/mo) | $87.98/mo |
fubo Pro Plan ($79.99/mo) | Sports Lite ($9.99/mo) | $89.98/mo |
fubo Pro Plan ($79.99/mo) | Sports Plus w/ RedZone ($10.99/mo) | $90.98/mo |
All fubo add-ons will give you access to MLB Network. The only difference in the plans is the number of other channels you get with it.
I prefer the one that includes NFL RedZone, but choose the option that works best for you.
fubo 7-Day Free Trial
If you would like to give it a try for yourself you can get a Free 7-day Trial of fubo to see how you like it. If you love it you can just continue your service after the trial or if not you can cancel at any time.
fubo can be viewed on many streaming devices including Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, iOS, Android, Xbox and many Smart TV brands.
DirecTV Stream
The third and final option to watch MLB Network is DirecTV Stream, the streaming tv service from the satellite giant DirecTV.
To get MLB Network on DirecTV Stream you’ll need to subscribe to the Choice plan (2nd tier) or higher, which costs $108.99 per month.
Thankfully, no add-on packages are required for this option.
Although DirecTV Stream generally runs a bit more expensive than most live TV streaming services but offers a lot of channels in exchange, including regional sports networks (in most markets), so you can watch your local MLB team’s games throughout the season.
DirecTV Stream is available on most devices including Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, iOS, and Android, as well as many brands of Smart TVs.
